The
Bob Filner scandal was a big deal in the news recently, but this episode of
Local Media Monitor on
KNSJ-FM focuses on a disgraced ex-mayor of San Diego you might have never heard about.
Roger Hedgecock,
who was mayor for a short time in the 1980s before a campaign finance
scandal forced him from office and into felony court proceedings, is now
a right wing talk show host. This episode exposes Hedgecock's
- opinions about who we "allow to procreate,"
- wild claims that California schools "teach hatred of white people" which is now an "epidemic" & Obama's doing,
- blaming of the school massacre in Newtown, CT on "political correctness,"
- factually-challenged assertions about North Korea's capabilities of nuking California and secret US troop movements in Iran, and
- calls for the brutal murder of the president of Afghanistan.
Included is an interview with Dr. Gerald Crabtree of Stanford
University on Hedgecock's widely inaccurate interpretation of one of
Crabtree's scientific publications.
